When planning a trip to Southeast Asia, it is essential to select an appropriate time frame for your travel. The region comprises dynamic countries such as Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and others, offering an unparalleled wealth of culture and scenery. The time of year selected for the visit can have a significant impact on the experience. Please find below some tips to assist you in making your decision.

Traveling in Southeast Asia: Climate Guide

The best time to travel to the mainland countries of Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, is between November and February. During this period, temperatures range between 20 and 30°C, with dry conditions and a generally pleasant climate. Please be advised that temperatures in the northern cities of Chiang Mai (Thailand) and Hanoi (Vietnam) can drop as low as 15°C.

In Indonesia and the Philippines, the dry season runs from January to March, with temperatures of between 25 and 30°C. During the same period, Malaysia and Singapore experience sporadic rainfall.
From April to June, Thailand experiences a notable increase in temperature, often exceeding 35°C, which increases the appeal of its beaches. Malaysia and Singapore begin to see more rainfall.

The rainy season runs from May to October, with heavy rains and high humidity, especially in Cambodia and Vietnam. The Philippines and Malaysia experience heavy rains and typhoons from July to October. Despite the rain, the landscape is green, there are fewer people and hotel prices are lower.

Rainfall tapers off in November and December across most of Southeast Asia, but Malaysia and Singapore remain wet. Temperatures remain warm, in the 25-30°C range, with a mix of sunshine and occasional showers.
